Perhaps your party guests have been more rowdy than usual or a younger one knocked a glass of red wine to the floor; whatever the cause was, you’re looking horrified at the quickly spreading red stain on your fine carpet. And, you think, “How do I save my carpet and bring it back to its prior condition?”
Before you do anything, stop, breathe and don’t panic. It’s not the end of the world and sometimes these things just happen!
As much as you want to dab water (or any other liquid) to try and dilute the red wine, don’t. That’s one of the worst things that you can do to fix the problem. In fact, doing this will only make the stain spread some more and you don’t want that to happen, do you?
So what’s the ‘first aid’ for getting red wine out of your carpet or upholstery?
Firstly, you need to get as much of the red wine off your carpet. Grab lots of kitchen towels or absorbent paper towels and press these on the spill until you get as much wine as you can out of there.
Once you get no more transfer of red wine on to your kitchen or paper towel, it’s time to get the stain out.
There are some solutions that you can use in the market today but we don’t recommend adding more liquid to the stain. Thus, it is best to use a dry compound that is safe and organic.
We recommend using RPC’s Host Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning System. This is a no moisture carpet cleaning compound that you can use with a spotting kit. It’s 99% organic and totally bio-degradable.
How to Use RPC’s Host Dry Extraction Carpet Cleaning System
Put the no moisture carpet cleaning compound on to the red wine and gently brush it with the spotted brush that comes with the spotting kit. This allows the compound to work on the carpet, releases the remaining wine and lets the product absorb the residue.
Leave the product on your carpet for 20 minutes and then vacuum your floor to ensure that no residue is left on your carpet. Remember, it is important not to leave any residue behind.
